SAFE 04/18/15 -Tail fracture? Pelvic fracture? Either way, BROCK has a BEGINNER rating and needs a foster/adopter to save his life, tonight! “Meet Brock!! This handsome boy needs a caring forever home as soon as possible. Brock has been relaxed and gentle here at the care center. He currently cannot walk on his hind legs, and has a probably fracture on his tail, which may end up needing an amputation. Please pull Brock from MACC today!!!”

I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 04/06/2015 from NY 11208, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

04/13/2015 Exam Type RE-EXAM – Medical Rating is 4 NC – SEVERE CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 8.5 LBS.

04/13/15 BAR VERY DOCILE, ALLOWS EXAM, GREAT CANDIDATE FOR MEDICAL INTERVENTION AS HE IS RECEPTIVE TO TREATEMENT, HANDLING, ETC DESPITE LAMENESS EATING WELL, RESTING IN MEDICAL PROGNOSIS GOOD, DEPENDING ON RADIOGRAPHIC INTERPRETATION (UNKNOWN) CLINICAL PRESENTATION / LEVEL OF LAMENESS SUGGESTED FRACTURE, BUT DIAGNOSIS OPEN LEVEL OF COMFORT SUGGESTS EITHER RESOLVING INJURIES OR VERY TOLERANT ANIMAL 04/12/15 gentle, friendly, even with fracture resting in cage, allows exam pain appears controlled eating appropriately 4/11 stable in cage QAR eating well NH placement needed 4/10 Prefers to rest sternally in cage hind end still painful when touched on pain meds by severity of hind end injury rads needed of lumbar spine and pelvis for incomplete non dislocated fractures tail only fracture palppated A: tail /possible pelvic fracture P; CWCTP Px good ———————————————————————————- 4/9 s/o reluctant to stand but cannot but can walk when force to possible pelvic wound/dislocation (0915 could not find fracture) a: tail/pelvis injury P: continue pain meds scan negative combo neg reported – not walking right on back legs S/O: QAR, dirty haircoat EENM: MM PINK AND MOIST, CRT 2 SEC, dirty ears – clean and apply tresederm AU BID CV: NO MURMURS OR ARRHYTHMIAS LUNGS: CLEAR ABD: SOFT AND NONTENDER, bladder full and expressed naturally with normal pressure MS/INTEG: AMB X 4, BCS 5/9 (OR 3/5), tail is limp, deep pain noted tpo be present, can not move at all. Fracture felt high up – most likely will need removal, anal spinter tone present NS: APPROPRIATE PLN: NSF GU: Intact male TTDex 0.15 cc , revessal with antisedan – 0.07 cc SC All osseous structures palpate wnl, RE : pelvis wnl a lot of dried stool removed from colon manually keep in medical A: ear mites Fracture tail, no wounds , pain response present – can not move at all dried stool in rectum P: ivermectin and tresederm Buprinex 0.35 cc SC BID 10 d LRS 100 cc SID 7 d NH placement – Tail removal needed PX Good

Brock came to us as a stray on 4/6/15. Upon intake Brock was reported by the finder that Brock had lived around his neighborhood for about a year. In addition, the finder described Brock as a very friendly cat. Brock was observed to be very relaxed in his cage with soft body language. He remained this was the assessor opened his kennel door. He allowed the assessor to touch him, and solicited more attention and petting by continuously rubbing his head on the assessor’s hand. The behavior department believes that Brock can go to a beginner home. Reaction to assessor: Does not come to the front but looks at you – is calm, relaxed, and friendly (1) When spoken to quietly: Does not come to the front but looks at you – is calm, relaxed, and friendly (1) Reaction to cage door opening: Remains soft and relaxed (1) Reaction to touch: Solicits petting and attention – rubs, chirps, and purrs.
