BRISK – A1054746
Gone 11-2-2015 Manhattan
**GONE 11/02/15** BRISK is a handsome, EXPERIENCE-rated gent with lovely volunteer comments, who was brought to the shelter after his former owner was arrested. He came in with FANTA, who was not only his BFF but was also, most likely, carrying his kittens within her sheltering womb. Of course, the ACC took care of that budding situation by giving Fanta a SPAY ABORTION, and then they decided to put both cats on the euth list. Please read BRISK’s super volunteer comments and then work hard to save his life, tonight! “A volunteer writes: This gentle soul was brought to us from a difficult situation. This handsome young man needs a gentle and patient person to guide him to happiness and safety. He would probably do best in a quiet environment, where the wonderful cat inside him can be allowed out. I can see the intelligence in his eyes, and I so hope the right owners will find him. There is something really special about this guy, maybe you can see it too. A staff member writes: Despite the name Brisk, expect the opposite. He is mellow, shy, gentle. He moves slowly, languidly, lazily. He is not a meower who demands attention. He just sits quietly in a corner. But he will calmly welcome petting, gingerly presenting his right cheek, then his left, and then he will stretch up for you to access under his chin–which seems to be his favorite part to be petted on. He likes soft, slow strokes, closing his eyes in pleasure. Brisk is the ideal cat for a laid-back human who wants peace and quiet, a soothing presence, and an irresistibly handsome face.”

10/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Brisk looks tense in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Brisk remains crouched position at the front of the cage, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Brisk sniffs the assessor’s hand then slowly head-butts, but seems unsure with his surroundings and remains cautious. Placement determination: Experience Brisk tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Update 10/29/15 Brisk uses his litter box in the care center, however, the staff has reported that he defecates outside his litter box when his litter box has been re-located to another area. We cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home, but moving the litter box from it’s original location is a possible stressor that could have produced this behavior. We recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litterbox should this behavior continue in a home environment.
