07/03/15 16:30hrs BASIC INFORMATION Boris is a gray male domestic shorthair cat that was found on the street three months ago by his owner. His owner is unable to continue caring for him because the owner is moving out of state. SOCIAL LIFE AND PERSONALITY Boris is considered a medium activity cat by his owner. He is independent but will play when he wants to. He lived with three adults. He would hide and then pounce on his owner’s legs as she is passing by but with his claws retracted. He will play with wand toys as well. Boris was the only pet in the house hold. BEHAVIOR Boris sometimes scratched his owner’s sofa but normally used his wooden and emery board scratching post. Boris liked playing with water, by pawing at it but he was never given baths. Boris was not bothered by being brushed or picked up and held. He was accustomed to using an uncovered litter box filled with Fresh Step litter. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Boris is an aloof cat that enjoys being petted. He will find his favorite spot in the house and lay there. He would follow his owner around the house when he was hungry. He was fed dry cat food. Boris owner stated he is a very smart cat and learned not to go into her room after she would spritz him with water. DURING INTAKE While in the carrier Boris was pawing at the door. When the Admissions Counselor had pet him, he purred and bumped his head against the Admissions Counselor hand. Boris walked out of his carrier without coaxing. He allowed being handled for collaring, scanning for a microchip (negative) and taking pictures. When it was time to return him to his carrier he low growled and swatted at the Admissions Counselor.
