10/27/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/27/15 16:31 BASIC INFO Bobby is a 1 year old DSH cat. His owner got him from a family member 3 weeks ago. They had him to catch mice. He cannot keep him due to allergies. SOCIALIZATION Bobby is friendly/outgoing with strangers. His previous owner had a new baby. Bobby scratched him about 1 month ago. His family thinks he was trying to initiate play by pawing at him (his nails are overgrown). Bobby plays somewhat rough with adults and children. He hasn’t spent time with other pets. He’s never bit anyone. His only scratching incident is described above. No other information is available. BEHAVIOR Bobby is relaxed in the car. He plays when picked up and held. He doesn’t mind being woken up. He struggles when put into a carrier. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Bobby’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, talkative, and high energy. He follows his family and sits by their feet. He didn’t have toys. He lived inside and ate dry cat food. He used to use the litterbox but started having accidents recently in his new home. He urinates on towels about 1-2 x / week. Otherwise, he uses his uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. He scratched the couch and wood but didn’t have a scratching post. INTAKE Bobby had a soft body and wide eyes as he walked around the counter while I pet, scanned (-), collared, positioned for pictures, picked up, and put him into a kennel. He didn’t resist, retreat, or vocalize. He head butted me on the counter and in his kennel and didn’t try to jump off the counter.

10/30/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bobby is friendly/outgoing with strangers. Bobby plays somewhat rough with adults and children. Also, describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, talkative, and high energy. Reaction to assessor: Bobby looks neutral in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Bobby remains sitting upright by the front of the cage, alert with normal shape eyes. Reaction to touch: Bobby stands with tail up, head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: He calmly jumps back into the cage. Placement determination: Experience Bobby is social and affectionate, but appeared to play rough in his previous home. As a result of this behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Bobby becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance.
