S/O: ACO called my attention to dried blood smears on one wall and perching area of this cat’s condo. Appearance: BARH Integument: Appropriate hair coat, normal nails EENT: OU clear, AU clean, No nasal d/c. However, cat will occasionally open mouth to take a breath. Also, occasional snezzing. Oral cavity: MM pink, CRT <2sec, Healthy dentition PLN: WNL H/L: No murmur or arrhythmias. Lungs auscult clearly, except a few episodes of a mild wheeze were ausculted (probably, pre-sneeze). ABD: Soft non painful, U/G: neutered male. M/S: Amb x 4 BCS:7 /9 Neuro: NSF NOSF. No blood noted on any body areas or at nostrils/in oral cavity. A: URI. The cage wall/perching area dried blood smears are likely due to the irritating effect of frequent sneezing on nasal membranes. P: Doxycycline 1.4 cc PO SID x 10 days. Recheck URI status daily, especially, since there is a likely relation of the blood smears to the URI. If signs worsen, rec. nebulization. Cat moved to Isolation.

07/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: At the front of the cage, soft and relaxed. (1) Reaction to being spoken to quietly: Rubs against front, soliciting attention. (1) Reaction to cage door opening: Remains soft and relaxed. (1) Reaction to touch: Enjoys petting and attention, then swats at me. (4) Reaction to being picked up: Tolerant of this type of handling. Notes: Blue came to the shelter surrendered by an owner who describes him as playful but notes that he plays roughly. At the time of the assessment, Blue is displaying friendly behavior and accepts all handling, but swats at the assessor. Blue is a playful but tense cat who would do well in a home with experienced cat parents with no children who can retrain him to play with toys rather than people’s hands.
