03/31/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Blue was fearful and difficult to handle at the time of her initial medical exam, hissing. During her behavior evaluation she is soliciting attention and extremely social; she is also showing behaviors consistent with being in heat, which may change her behavior from its normal state and make the behavior assessment less predictive. Due to this possibility, the contrast between her intake and current behaviors, and our lack of information on her behavior in her previous home, we feel that placement with an experienced adopter is in Blue’s best interest so she can adjust to her new home and new family at her own pace and with the understanding that her behavior may change when she completes her heat cycle. Reaction to assessor: Blue immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Blue remains at the front of the cage, chirping attention. Reaction to touch: Blue accepts the stroke, but then assumes mating position, places her head down with her forelegs bent, and raises her hindquarters and tail. Reaction to Being Picked up: She calmly jumps back into her cage. Placement determination: Experience
