BLINX – A1033972
5-17-2015 Brooklyn Rescue: ***SAFE*** Pulled by Feline Rescue of SI- Donation website: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/ Please honor your pledges:
**SAFE 05/17/15** Formerly on a DOH hold, BLINX needs a NEW HOPE RESCUE to save him tonight, despite his Experience rating. “A Staff Member Writes: Ironically, I don’t think I’ve seen Blinx blink since he’s been here! This shy little fellow has been watching us very closely as he tries to get comfortable here. He loves head rubs and is very attentive whenever I go say hello, always greeting me with a cooing meow. According to his previous owner, he’s great with kids. I suspect he might need some time in a new environment to get comfortable, so he could use a patient new family. Could it be you?” Please read his surrender notes and you’ll agree—BLINX is well worth whatever effort it takes to find a New Hope rescue group to pull him to safety, tonight!

04/22/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/22/15 13:21 Basic Information: Blinx is a 1 year old unaltered dilute orange tabby. He was found as a kitten and has been in the same home since. He is being surrender because his owner is moving out of the state and cannot take him with her. He has not been to the vet recently but has no known injuries or health problems. The owner says that she loves how playful and affectionate he is. Social Life and Personality: Blinx has been around children and he is affectionate and very tolerant of children and their rough play. He is gentle and exuberant during play with children. It is unknown how he would be with cats but since he is unaltered and when he sees cats outside his hair stands up and sometimes he sprays. He uses the litter box and does not have accidents outside the box (unless he sprays because of cats he sees outside). He has been kept indoors and has a medium activity level. The owner describes Blinx as playful, confident, shy with new people, friendly, assertive, talkative, affectionate, and independent. Behavior: Blinx is afraid of baths and having his nails trimmed. He will struggle when he has them. He enjoys being brushed and held. He is not bothered when placed in a carrier or when resting. For a New Family to Know: Blinx is used to clumping litter in a covered litter box. He likes to play with wand toys, catnip, string, and toy mice. When provided he will scratch on a scratching post. He prefers vertical posts with carpet or wood like ones. When people are home he likes to follow them, be in the same room as them, sit on them. If he isn’t doing one of those, you can find him in his favorite spot. Blinx may meow during car rides. He is feed fed dry food and fed wet food once in the morning and once at night. His favorite treats are party mix and he loves to sleep in bed with you. Intake Behavior: Blinx sat in the carrier with a soft body. He walked out of the carrier and aloud the counselor to put a collar on. He licked his lips when he looked around the office. He walked back in the carrier when it was placed back on the counter.

04/24/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Owner Profile: Blinx was bought into the care center because his previous owner moved out of state and could not take Blinx. Blinx has been around children and he is said to be affectionate and very tolerant of children and their rough play. He has never been around other animals so his behavior around them is unknown. His previous owner stated he does spray if he sees cats outside. Blinx is litter box trained. Notes: Blinx at the time of the assessment was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert and starts to become vocal when the kennel was opened. After a steady low approach using soft voices he relaxed a little and I was able to pet him and interact with him. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Reaction to assessor: does not come to front but remains neutral (2) When spoken quietly: does not come to front but remains neutral (2) Reaction to door cage opening: becomes vocal, nervous (2) Reaction to touch: seems indifferent to my presence and touch (2) Try picking cat up: tolerant of this type of handling but tense. Placement Determination: Experienced
