Blanca was brought into ACC today by her owner who had to surrender Blanca due to a change in their living situation. Blanca is a white and gray female cat who is spayed and in good health. Blanca is approximately 6 yrs. old. Blanca was a stray who was rescued by her previous owner. Blanca is described as having a strong personality and a relaxed attitude.
Blanca is not well socialized with children or other cats at all. Blanca will hiss and hide from children when she encounters them. Blanca will also hiss at other cats when they around. Blanca is not socialized with dogs in any manner. Blanca is litter trained and has had no litter box accidents. Blanca is an indoor cat with a low activity level. Blanca has been described as confident shy mellow assertive aloof affectionate quiet and independent.
Blanca will hide in fear from people or situations she is unfamiliar with. Blanca will struggle hiss and swat if any attempt is made to bath her trim her fingernails or place her in a carrier. Blanca is not bothered by being held brushed or disturbed when she is sleeping. Blanca uses clay litter in an open litter box. Blanca likes to play with balls wand and catnip toys string and will engage in chasing games. Blanca likes to scratch her upright scratching post made out of rope. Blanca will eat dry food once a day and will also snack on tuna flavored treats. Blanca is nervous when in cars but will be able to calm down after some time. Blanca will follow his owner around and stay in the same room as them and will also sit on them when at home.
Blanca during the Intake process was calm quiet and somewhat aloof. Blanca allowed herself to be transferred into a new carrier and photographed with no difficulty. Blanca did not allow herself to be collared but was easy to handle regardless and showed no signs of negative behavior.

Reaction to Assessor: Blanca was at the front, soliciting attention by head-butting the cage door.
Reaction to cage door opening: Blanca remains soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch: Blanca head-butts the assessor’s hand, starts to drool, and continues to solicit attention while purring loudly.
Reaction to being picked up: Blanca becomes tense, but allows handling.
As per previous owner, Blanca does not do well with children and other cats. She hisses and tries to hide when children approach her. Blanca has been described as confident, mellow, assertive, aloof, affectionate, quiet, and independent.
Behavior Determination: Beginner
Blanca interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home. Due to the previous owner’s information stating that Blanca may not do well around children, we advise any future home with children conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
