***GONE 12/21/15*** BLACKJACK IS HOPING TO PLAY HIS CARDS RIGHT……With jack rabbit ears, BLACKJACK is a one year old who is already NEUTERED. BLACKJACK was found wandering in a building and was only kept by the finder for a few days. He is still trying to make up his mind about people, hence his EXPNOCHILD rating. But as with many abandoned and frightened cats, time and love go a long way in making a cat feel safe and happy again. PLEASE DON’T LET THIS ORANGE GUY DIE!! GIVE HIM A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND APPLY TO FOSTER OR ADOPT HIM NOW!!

12/20/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Blackjack was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The finder kept him for a few days, but only interacted with him minimally. He was displaying friendly behaviors upon intake, allowing the counselor to pet him and he head-butted in return, however he swiped the counselor’s hand when attempting to place him into a carrier. Reaction to assessor: Blackjack was inside a hidey den upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Blackjack turns to look at the assessor with dilated eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Blackjack remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Blackjack peeks his head out of the opening of the den and sniffs the assessor’s hand. He slowly shifts away from the hand when extended, but allows brief petting on his head. He lip licks and retreats back into the den, unwilling to come back out to interact. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Blackjack tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
