She was adopted from a shelter 11 years ago and is being surrender due to personal problems. Black Beauty has not been to the vet recently but he has no known injuries or health problems. The owner states her favorite thing about Black Beauty is how affectionate she is. Social Life and Personality: Black Beauty has not been around children or dogs to know his behavior around them. She has lived with two other cats. All the cats are respectful of each other and usually do not play with each other. He is litter box trained and has never had an accident outside the litter box. She has a medium activity level. The owner describes her has playful, confident, friendly, assertive, talkative , affectionate, and independent. Behavior: Black Beauty is afraid of baths; she struggles and hisses during them. She loved to be bushed and picked up. She struggles when picked up. For a New Family to Know: Black Beauty is used to many kinds of litter inside a hooded litter box. She likes to play with balls, string, and catnip. She does not have a scratching post at home but he does scratch on the cloth furniture. When people are home, he follows them around. He meows during car rides. She eats dry cat food. He likes to sleep in bed with people. Intake Behavior: Black Beauty was tense when placed on the ocunter for photos. She tried to jump of the counter and hide but she allowed to be repositioned. She did not show any aggressive behaviors and allowed all handling.

Notes: At the time of the assessment Black Beauty was displaying friendly behavior, does not come to the front of the kennel, interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. She is displaying behavior appropriate for a beginner cat owner. Reaction to assessor: does not come to front but looks at you, is calm, relaxed and friendly When spoken quietly: comes to the front of cage, soliciting, rubbing against front Reaction to door cage opening: remains soft and relaxed Reaction to touch: solicits petting and attention Try picking cat up: tolerant of this type of handling Placement Determination: Beginner
