BAR ON PRESENTATION
APPEARS TO BE EATING WELL
TOLERABLE FOR HANDLING
RAISED, FIRM SWELLING AT BASE OF TAIL – NOT WARM TO TOUCH, NOT SOFT
WHEN PALPATED, PATIENT DID SEEM BOTHERED; ALSO WHEN TAIL WAS RAISED, PATIENT WAS UNCOMFORTABLE
GAVE 0.13 ML BUPENEX SL
TOOK 2 VIEW RADS OF TAIL – APPEARS TO BE A DISTAL PHYSEAL FRACTURE OF C5 WITH A CAUDOVENTRAL DISPLACEMENT.
PATIENT APPEARS TO BE AMBULATING WELL WHEN NOT PALPATED
WILL KEEP IN MEDICAL FOR OBSERVATION AND PAIN MED ADMINISTRATION
UNSURE OF ORIGIN OF FRACTURE – POSS. CAME IN TO SHELTER WITH IT.
RECHECK TOMORROW +/- INFORM NEW HOPE
EXCELLENT PROGNOSIS
CONTINUE BUPRENEX SL BID X 5 DAYS.

VC – PLEASE CHECK HER APPETITE AND LOOK AT RADS (TAIL FRACTURE) – DOES SHE NEED TO STAY IN MEDICAL/INFORM NEW HOPE?
S/O: Cat is BAR, able to move tail, allows all handling, eats well
A: Tail fx – does not seem painful
P: No need for cat to stay in medical – can go back to adoptions; do not anticipate this injury to cause future problems
