07/18/15 14:00 Basic information Baby is a 10 year old spayed white and black tabby with no known medical conditions. Owner has had Baby for 10 years and is surrendering because of time issues. Socialization Baby has not lived with children but has lived with another cat and a dog. The other cat was not social towards baby so behavior is not known to interacting with cats. With the dog Baby was very relaxed and respectful but also did not engage in play with him. When strangers would come to the home if Baby did not know them she would hide. Baby is litter box trained but will go to the bathroom in the litter box if it is not clean. Previous owner cleaned litter box every day. Baby has a low activity level and was described as a mush, affectionate and independent. Behavior Baby has not been given a bath or had her nails trimmed by owner but enjoys being brushed. Baby allows to be picked up and held for short amounts of time. When baby goes to the bathroom outside the litter box she usually goes on hard flooring right next to the litter box but only when litter is not cleaned. for the new family to Know Baby enjoys playing with balls and strings and uses a carpet vertical scratching post. Baby plays gently and enjoys attention from owner. Baby uses pellet litter and an uncovered litter box. When in the home baby tends to be in the same room. Baby eats meow mix dry food and sleeps on a cat bed. Behavior during intake Baby was quiet during intake. When opening the carrier baby head butted counselor’s hand right away seeking to be pet. Reaction to Assessor: Baby was calm and relaxed upon approach. She looks at the assessor with relaxed eyes and looks away when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Baby remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Baby chirps, comes to the front and head-butts the assessor’s hand. She starts to purr and leans on the assessor’s hand as the assessor continues to pet her. Reaction to being picked up: Baby remains calm and allows handling. As per previous owner, Baby has not lived with children, but has lived with another cat and a dog. The other cat was not social towards Baby, but Baby was very relaxed and respectful around the dog. Baby would hide around strangers. She allows pick up and to be held for short periods of time. Baby has a low activity level and was described as a mush, affectionate and independent. Behavior Determination: Average Baby interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
