10/23/15 12:33 Basic Information: Ava is an 8yr old spayed female cat that has no past or current medical issues according to the owner. Social Life & Personality: Precious comes from a home with children and she interacted with them in a playful gentle manner. She has been around other cats but does not play with them. Around dogs, Ava is aggressive and fearful and will hiss and hide. Ava is litter box trained and is kept mostly indoors. She has a low avtivity level and is described as shy, friendly, and quiet. Behavior Issues: Ava has never bitten another person or animal. She often escapes the house however. She wa snever groomed, bathed, or had her nails trimmed so it is unsure how Ava will react to this. She enjoys being picked up and having her coat brushed. It was a struggle to put her in the carrier today, and she hissed and growled when trying to do so. For a New Family to Know: Ava was brought up using crystals litter and an uncovered litter box. She enjoys all sorts of cat toys and will play with just about anything. Ava used a vertical scratching post made of carpet. When in the home, Ava will rarely seek attention. She plays gently or enjoys playing alone. In the car, Ava is afraid and will meow and cry. She was fed only dry meow brand cat food. She enjoys sleeping in her kitty bed. Behavior Upon intake: Upon intake, Ava allowed all handling and was very friendly. No signs of aggression were noticed.

10/26/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

As per previous owner, Ava socialized well with children, tolerated other cats, and was fearful of dogs. She is described as shy and friendly. Reaction to assessor: Ava is calm and relaxed sitting in the middle of her cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ava comes to the front of the cage, rubbing against the cage front. Reaction to cage door opening:Ava hisses, then goes back to being relaxed. Reaction to touch: Ava head-butts and rubs against the assessor. Reaction to pick up: Ava vocalizes, unhappy being picked up, goes back to being relaxed after handling. Placement Determination: Average Ava approaches the assessor and appreciates petting and attention, but can be nervous. Ava is exhibiting behavior suited to average cat parents and may need additional quiet adjustment time in a new home.
