ASTORIA – A1034092
5-4-2015 Manhattan Rescue: ***SAFE*** Pulled by HVARS- Donation website: http://www.hvars.org/ Please honor your pledges:
**SAFE 05/04/15*** ASTORIA WAS A FRIENDLY STRAY UPON INTAKE BUT SADLY ON HER ASSESSMENT SHE NIPPED MODERATELY SO NOW SHE IS STUCK WITH A NEW HOPE RATING! Beautiful little Astoria is only a year old. She allowed handling and was fine when brought into the shelter. But when the assessor scared her with the big fake plastic hand, she nipped “moderately” at it and thus got the New Hope rating which is so unfair. This cat was in the home with her finder before being dumped at the ACC and was good with her 2 cats and dog. Astoria is only afraid and would make a purrfect companion if you will give her a chance tonight. DON’T LET THE ACC KILL THIS GROWN KITTEN – CONTACT A RESCUE TO PULL HER TO SAFETY NOW.

04/28/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Astoria looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Astoria remains crouched down on her cage bedding, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Astoria accepts the stroke and leans into the assessor’s hand, but randomly hisses while soliciting attention. Then after she moderately nips at the hand and remains soliciting. Placement determination: NH Only Astoria is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
