07/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Artemis was surrendered by his owner, but we have no information available on his behavior or his situation in his previous home. He is noted to have behaved in a “friendly” manner at the time of intake, though he was a bit nervous during his initial medical examination. Artemis appears to be having a hard time acclimating to the shelter environment and is not thriving. He has shown no aggression but is beginning to avoid interaction when approached. Reaction to assessor: Artemis is tense, pupils dilated, when approached. Reaction to cage door opening: Remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Artemis shifts his weight away from the assessor’s hand. He allows gentle touch. Placement determination: Experienced adopter Artemis has been nervous but tolerant in the care center. We recommend placement into a home environment as quickly as possible, and an experienced adopter who will allow Artemis to adjust to his new home and new family at his own pace.
