*** SAFE 05/20/15*** “HEADBUTTING” FRIENDLY TABBY GIRL, DESCRIBED AS A “NURTURER”, WAS DUMPED DUE TO LANDLORD ISSUES AND WILL DIE BECAUSE SHE SNEEZED – PLEASE GRANT ARIEL A DEATH ROW PARDON!!! Gorgeous five-year-old brown and gray tabby girl was dumped into the kill-happy ACC due to LANDLORD ISSUES: “Owner stated that Ariel followed him home from the store 2 months ago, and he has had her since.” Ariel is described as “friendly” girl who “is a nurturer”. She’s usually mellow and quiet. She has been around children ages 3, and 13 and she is relaxed and tolerant of them. She tends to drift more to the younger child, because she can be playful when in the mood and she plays gently. She has been around a Shih Tzu and she is friendly with the dog, and enjoys playing with him. She is affectionate, and can be shy around strangers.” Ariel earned a very good EXPERIENCE behavior rating for her HEADBUTTS. But Ariel will DIE at NOON TOMORROW, another INNOCENT VICTIM of the notorious ACC kitty cold and a badly broken shelter system! Please start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt adorable tabby girl ARIEL! If you can’t save ARIEL yourself, please SHARE her sad story and PLEDGE for her rescue!

Ariel was surrendered due to client landlord issues, Client could not keep more than one animal in the home. When asked two things he likes most about Ariel client chose friendly, and that she is a nurturer. Personality & Behavior Client describes Ariel as Medium active, and says that she’s usually mellow and quiet. Client says she has been around children ages 3, and 13 and client says she is relaxed and tolerant of them. He states that she tends to drift more to the younger child, because she can be playful when in the mood and he says she plays gently. Client says she has been around a Shih Tzu and client states she is friendly with the dog, and enjoys playing with him. Client says she was around a cat for the past two weeks and client says they did not get along. He states that they would become aggressive and growl and hiss at each other. Client says she is affectionate, and can be shy around strangers. Client says he did not attempt any form of grooming, but states that she seems unbothered if picked up and held, or if disturbed while sleeping. Client says it is somewhat of a struggle to place her in carrier, and he says that she cries once inside. Client says he has no past issues with her scratching or biting anyone, or another animal. For a New Family to Know Client says she is litter box trained, and he used the clumping form of litter with Ariel. He says Ariel doesn’t play with toys, and would occasionally play with him gently. He states that she did scratch on his furniture and drapes; however she did not have a scratching post in the home. Client says when home she’ll follow him around, but eventually will retire to one of her favorite spots in the closet, or under the table. Client says Ariel was free fed dry food, and is unbothered with car rides, and shell sleep anywhere in the home. Behavior During intake Ariel was afraid during intake, but still easy to handle. Her body was flattened, with dilated pupils but she soon relaxed. She allowed me to pet her, give her food, and she showed no signs of aggression during intake.

05/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Ariel was calm and relaxed upon approach. When softly spoken to, she looks at the assessor and looks away, and then lip licks. Reaction to cage door opening: Ariel remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Ariel sniffs the assessor’s hand and was hesitant of touch at first. She allows touch when you approach her slowly and soon head-butts the assessor lightly. She may retreat from time to time, but shows interest in interacting with the assessor. As per previous owner, Ariel is usually mellow and quiet. She is relaxed and tolerant around children and play gently when she is in the mood to play. She has also been around a small dog, in which she was friendly with. She did not get along with the other cat, however. They said she is affectionate, but can be shy around strangers. Behavior Determination: Experience Ariel tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
