APPLE – A1047728

8-17-2015 Manhattan

Previous | Next

***GONE 08/17/15*** CAN YOU MAKE APPLE THE APPLE OF YOUR EYE TONIGHT AND SPARE HER LIFE?? This poor girl was found in the Bronx and was brought into the shelter. She was dirty from her own excrement but the ACC didn’t clean her up- they refused to handle her and just transferred her to a new kennel. APPLE has a cold and needs vet care. She has gotten an EXPNOCHILD rating because she allowed some petting and handling but is not adapting well to the shelter environment and who can blame her? She is eating and drinking but this poor girl needs out now and probably some better antibiotics for her cold. THE ACC HAS WASHED THEIR HANDS OFF HER LIFE FROM THE GET-GO – BUT WE KNOW ALL SHE NEEDS IS SOME FOOD, LOVE AND BASIC VET CARE. CAN YOU GIVE THIS FRIGHTENED GIRL A HOME? CONTACT A RESCUE TO PULL HER TO SAFETY NOW!

08/13/15 13:19 Apple is a stray found in the bronx. She came in with a foul odor and possibly an infection. Due to condition and to prevent the spread of a contagion, we did not handle. We were able to transfer her into another kennel, in which she walked right in. She is eating and drinking water.

08/16/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Apple was calm and relaxed by the front upon approach. She looks at the assessor, blinks, and slowly retreats to the back of the cage when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Apple becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Apple attempts to avoid touch by shifting away from the assessor’s hand. She focuses on the hand and allows brief touch, but twitches when pet and shifts away again. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Apple tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
