03/30/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Alekai became alert upon approach. When softly spoken to, he focuses on the assessor with dilated eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Alekai becomes stiff and remains alert. Reaction to touch: Alekai attempts to avoid touch and tries to flee. When confronted, he allows touch but is immobile and uncomfortable; his ears bend sideways. Reaction to toy or novel object: Alekai shows no interest in playing. Note: Alekai was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The finder says he tries to run away from everyone. During his initial medical exam, he was very tense and nervous. Behavior Determination: NH Only Alekai is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
