06/09/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/09/15 19:26 BASIC INFO Vegas and Houdini are 1.5 year old DSH cats. They’re brother and sister. Their family got them from a rescue in NC when they were 1 month old. Their owner surrendered them because her son has severe asthma. SOCIALIZATION Vegas is shy with new people for a few minutes and Houdini is shy with new people for a few days. They lived with 2 children ages 1-5. They’re relaxed and affectionate with them but run if they try to pick them up. They play gently with people and have never bit/scratched anyone. Vegas and Houdini are usually together. They’re relaxed, affectionate, tolerant, and play exuberantly together. They lived with a small breed puppy who frequently tried to play with them. They were tolerant but preferred to sit on an elevated surface where he couldn’t bother them. BEHAVIOR Vegas and Houdini lightly scratch the couch and door hinge but didn’t have a scratching post. They’re relaxed in the car. They enjoy being brushed and don’t mind being picked up (by adults), put in carriers, or woken up. Houdini struggles during baths. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Vegas’s and Houdini’s family describes them as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, shy, quiet, and medium energy. Houdini is independent. Her family thinks of her as formerly human because she stands with her feet in their shoes and always likes to sniff their food, coffee, and bath. Vegas is curious and likes to explore. They both enjoy watching out the window and watching TV. They follow their family and lie on them. The cats lived inside and slept up high during the day and in bed with the children at night. They usually slept together. They ate dry Purina food. They’re littertrained and don’t have accidents. They used a hooded litterbox with clumping litter. INTAKE Vegas and Houdini were tense and lying down/crouched while we picked them up, positioned them for pictures, scanned them (-), collared them, and took them in and out of carriers. They were easy to handle and didn’t resist/retreat/vocalize.
