*** GONE 09/22/15 *** TUX IS AN INDEPENDENT GUY WHO KNOWS WHAT HE WANTS…..He is affectionate and playful and prefers to be petted rather than held and liked to cuddle with his owner. TUX lived with small children but may need some help with children under 5 being too rambunctious around him. He is already NEUTERED and is sadly a return to the ACC after just two months!! TUX also lived with another cat and was fine with the cat. PLEASE GET THIS GUY INTO A HOME WHERE HIS WONDERFUL QUALITIES WILL BE APPRECIATED AND CHILDREN WILL BE MONITORED!! LOTS OF LOVE HERE!! 09/04/15 15:13 Basic Information: Tux is a 1 year old black and white altered domestic shorthair. He was adopted from AC&C on 7/1/15. Tux is up to date on vaccinations and appears to be healthy. Owner surrenders Tux due to personal problems with Tux in the home. Social Life and Personality: Tux lived with two adults and been around children ages 3 and 6 years old. Owner stated that Tux is aggressive towards the 3 year old but is tolerant towards the 6 years old. Tux lived with another cat who was adopted from AC&C the same day along with Tux and they were playful and respectful towards each other. Tux behavior is unknown towards dogs. Tux is indoors only but escaped the house once and stayed outside for two days. Owner describes Tux as playful, assertive and independent. Behavior Issues: Tux never bitten anyone but has scratched someone in the past 10 days. Tux doesn’t like to be picked up and held and rather be petted. Tux likes to cuddle with owner as well. He was never given a bath or had a nail trim. For a New Family to Know: Tux is litter box trained and uses a hooded litter box. Tux likes to play with balls and stuffed mice toys. Tux likes to scratch on scratching post made out of carpet. Tux likes to follow owner around the house or be everywhere around the house being active. Tux eats dry food called Friskies twice a day. Intake Behavior: Upon intake Tux was amorous and relaxed. He scanned positive for a microchip and allowed all handling.

As per previous owner, Tux has lived with two adults and has been around children ages 3 and 6. He becomes defensive around the 3 year old, but is tolerant around the 6 year old child. He has scratched the 3 year old child on the arm when the child tried to pet him, however we have no additional details on the context of the interaction between Tux and the child. He has lived with another cat and is playful and respectful around him. He was kept indoors and was described as playful, assertive, and independent. He dislikes being picked up and held, and would rather be pet. Reaction to Assessor: Tux was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Tux looks at the assessor with relaxed eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Tux remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Tux remains in place for petting, leans on the assessor, and begins to purr. He hisses once when being pet roughly near his tail, but did not display any further reaction and continued to rub his cheeks lightly on the assessor afterwards. Reaction to being picked up: Tux remains calm and allows handling. Placement Determination: Average Tux interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents. Because of an incident with his previous owner, we advise any future home with young children conduct a thorough interaction.
