Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sonny was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The finder has been feeding him in their yard and says he is friendly and social. He was fearful upon intake, but he calmed down and started to enjoy the staff’s company and attention after some time. He was easy to handle during his initial medical exam. Please note that Sonny is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Reaction to assessor: Sonny slowly comes to the front to sniff the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sonny looks at the assessor with relaxed eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Sonny remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Sonny remains in place for petting, but slowly shifts away. He head-butts his sister when petted. Reaction to pick up: Sonny remains calm and allows handling. Placement Determination: Average Sonny interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
