SKYLER – A0875075
Safe 9-14-2015 Staten Island Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 09/14/15** SKYLER has an AVERAGE rating and sounds like a really great girl, both according to her owner surrender notes and to her volunteer comment. Why didn’t her former owner take her to the VET when she started having litterbox issues? Please read her glowing volunteer comments and then advocate widely for SKYLER tonight! “A volunteer writes: As soon as I entered the room, Skyler rose to her little paws to greet me. This super affectionate gal licked my hand and purred as I was petting her. Skyler is so pretty, and her personality is super outgoing and friendly. During my entire time at the shelter, she watched every move I made, and watched others too. She was so alert and interested in what was going on around her that she would make a great office manager! Not only does she have the loveliest white accents on her paws, she will sometimes be standing, then gently raise her left paw a bit, holding it there as if she were posing for a photo shoot. This remarkable little lady would bring joy into any forever home — I only spent and short time with her, and she brought such joy into my life. Why not have a visit with Skyler, and see for yourself!”

08/31/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Does not come to the front but remains neutral. (2) Reaction to being spoken to quietly: Looks at assessor, soft and relaxed. (1) Reaction to cage door opening: Remains soft and relaxed. (1) Reaction to touch: Allows petting and attention, warms up and beginds to solicit petting. (1) Reaction to being picked up: Tense, jumps down immediately from arms. Notes: Skyler came to the shelter surrendered by an owner who describes her as social and affectionate, noting that she got along well with children but not with other cats in the household. At the time of the assessment, Skyler is displaying friendly behavior. She interacts with the assessor and appreciates handling. Skyler’s previous owner reports that she was defecating outside the litterbox daily when offered a covered litterbox, but that the behavior improved when she was provided with an open one. Please note as well that Skyler’s previous living situation, with other cats she did not get along with, may have contributed to this behavior. Skyler is exhibiting behavior suited to cat parents with an average amount of experience and no other cats in the home, and would do best with an open, easily accessible litterbox.
