SAYA – A1037282
**SAFE 05/31/15** “Saya, whose name means swift arrow in Japanese, is a feral cat that was not able to be scanned, collared, or handled. Saya rushed to the back of the cage as soon as the trap cage was opened.” Saya is a PREGNANT 12-month-old kitten who has experienced just a hint of luck at the shelter; this pretty tabby girl did not have to endure a brutal spay abortion. Don’t be fooled when you read that the shelter staff couldn’t catch Saya; when it comes time to kill her tomorrow afternoon, you can be damn certain they will do whatever it takes to get a hold of her. Saya has earned a NEW HOPE rating and her life depends on a rescue group pulling her to safety, tonight.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Saya looks alarmed in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Saya remains crouched down on her cage bedding, alert with pupils dilated. Reaction to touch: Saya does not allow the stroke, swats with claws out, and hisses at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: NH ONLY Saya is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
