09/03/15 12:58 Basic Information: Sammy is a 5 year old altered orange domestic short hair tabby. The owner found Sammy as a kitten and is surrendering due to a landlord conflict. Sammy would see the vet yearly and has no known health problems or injuries. The owner states that she loves how Sammy greets her at the door. Social Life and Personality: Sammy has been around children from infants and older. When they are visiting she hides from them. It is unknown how she would behave around other cats and dogs. She is kept indoors, is litter box trained, and has a medium activity level. His owner describes him as playful, confident, shy, mellow, friendly, assertive, fearful of loud noises, affectionate, and independent. Behavior: When people visit Sammy will hide at first but will make his way out. He struggles when bathed, brushed, picked up, and held. He is afraid of going in a carrier. For a New Family to Know: Sammy is used to clumping litter inside an uncovered litter box. He likes to play with balls, catnip, and toy mice. He scratches on his horizontal post made out of rough fabric. He also is able to lay on the post. When his owner is home he likes to be in the same room as her. He is gentle during play. He meows during car rides. HE eats dry Friskies cat food. He cannot have wet food because he throws up. He likes temptations cat treats. He likes to sleep on the couch. Intake Behavior: Sammy had a soft body when in the carrier. He allowed to be picked up and placed on the counter for photos and collaring. He did not show any aggressive behaviors.

Owner Profile: Sammy was bought into the care center by his previous owner due to the landlord not allowing pets. Sammy has been around adults and children. When children are visiting he hides from them. His behavior around other animals remains unknown. He is kept indoors and is litter box trained. His activity level is medium. His previous owner described him as playful, confident, shy, mellow, friendly, assertive, fearful of loud noises, affectionate, and independent. Notes: Sammy seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment he was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. Sammy may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. Reaction to assessor: does not come to front, body appear tense When spoken quietly: does not come to front, body appears tense Reaction to door cage opening: becomes stiff, alert Reaction to touch: shaking from fear, growls, hisses, does not allows petting at all Try picking cat up: did not attempt to pick up Sammy due to him being fearful Placement Determination: NewHope
