Reaction to assessor: Reggae was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. When softly spoken to, she rolls onto her side and rubs her cheeks on various objects in her cage. Reaction to cage door opening: Reggae remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Reggae head-butts the assessor’s hand while lying down in her cage. She rolls over on her other side and purrs when the assessor continues to pet her. After a while, she may get over-stimulated; she gets up and head-butts the assessor’s hand vigorously and her tail swishes from side to side. Reaction to being picked up: Reggae remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Experience Reggae interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Although she is displaying behaviors that earn her a Beginner score, due to her reaction to handling with some of our staff and volunteers in the care center and her willingness to strike out to avoid handling in certain situations, we recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents who are familiar with feline body language and can recognize signs if she wishes to be left alone. _________________________________________________________________________________ Reaction to assessor: Reggae immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Reggae remains at the front of the cage, soft and relaxed, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Reggae rubs on the assessor’s hand, purrs, and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: Allows the pickup and remains calm. Placement determination: Beginner Reggae interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
