RAJA – A0980705
Urgent 9-11-2015 Manhattan
**GONE 09/11/15** NEW HOPE RESCUE NEEDED FOR BEGINNER-RATED RAJA, TONIGHT! That’s right, this cat has both a BEGINNER and a NEW HOPE rating showing up on his biography, and his owner surrender notes are stellar! Raja “plays fetch,” is already neutered, and was adopted from the ACC as recently as a year ago. Now he’s back with a mishmosh of ratings and a date with death tomorrow afternoon. A foster/adopter will SAVE HIS LIFE but they must work with a New Hope rescue to do it! Plese pledge toward his care, share him far and wide, and send an email to [email protected] if YOU can foster/adopt RAJA, tonight!

09/08/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/08/15 15:56 Basic Information: Raja is a 2 year old neutered male who was surrendered because his previous owners were moving and are not allowed pets in their new home. His previous owner originally got him from ACC and has had him for a year. The last time he went to the vet was in November of last year. The two things his previous owner liked most about him are; he plays fetch and is very friendly. Social Life and Personality: Around children 10 and older Raja is respectful and around toddlers Raja is usually tolerant. When he plays with children he is exuberant. Raja is litter box trained and was kept indoors only. He has a medium activity level and can be described as playful, confident, shy, friendly, affectionate, quiet and independent. Behavior Issues: Raja isn’t bothered if he is given a bath or if he is getting his nails trimmed. He enjoys being held or picked up. He also isn’t bothered if he is put in a carrier or disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Raja used clumping cat litter in a hooded litter box. He liked to play with balls with bells in them and stuffed toys. He used a scratching post made of carpet. When his previous owners were home Raja would tend to follow them around and when he played he was gentle. Raja eats wet Friskies and dry cat food. At night he slept anywhere that was comfortable. Behavior during Intake: Raja allowed me to collar him and hold him. He had a tense body and dilated pupils and tried to jump off the counter. When I tried to stop him from jumping down he growled at me.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Raja has lived with children ages ten and older and is respectful and usually tolerant. He is exuberant during play and was described as playful, confident, shy, friendly, affectionate, quiet, and independent with a medium activity level. He isn’t bothered when given a bath or getting his nails trimmed. He enjoys being picked up and being held. The two things his previous owner liked most about him is that he plays fetch and he is very friendly. Reaction to assessor: Raja becomes alert by the back of the cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Raja’s ears tilt sideways and he blinks slowly. Reaction to cage door opening: Raja becomes stiff and looks around. Reaction to touch: Raja sniffs the assessor’s hand and squints his eyes. He moves away from the assessor’s hand and pats it very gently. He seems unsure and starts to growl. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Raja is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
