Medical Summary ADOPTER RETURNED WITH PATIENT DUE TO CONCERNS FOR URI PER ADOPTIONS STAFF, PATIENT HAS BEEN SNEEZING AND HAVING NASAL DISCHARGE SINCE ADOPTION. ADOPTER CAME YESTERDAY AND RECEIVED MEDICATION, HOWEVER PATIENT HAS NOT STARTED ON ANY MEDS YET. PATIENT WAS ALSO TAKEN TO LEFFERTS ANIMAL HOSPITAL WHERE HOSPITALIZATION WAS RECOMMENDED. PER OWNER, PATIENT IS BAR AT HOME, ALTHOUGH HAS NO INTEREST IN FOOD. ONLY HAD ONE SMALL EPISODE OF STOOL, WHICH DID NOT CONSIST OF DIARRHEA. QAR ON PRESENTATION MODERATE AMOUNT OF MP NASAL DISCHARGE BILATERALLY PINK, TACKY MM PROLONGED SKIN TENTING – APPROX. 8% DEHYDRATED TEMP = 101.1 *F BCS = 2-3/9 SPAY INCISION AREA APPEARS CDI, HEALED WELL INCREASED RESPIRATORY EFFORT NORMAL HEART SOUNDS – LUNGS SEEM TO HAVE REFERRED UPPER AIRWAY NOISE BILATERALLY – NO CRACKLES OR WHEEZES AUSCULTED ABDOMEN = SNP, DOUGHY, NON-FLUIDY NOSF PARVO TEST = NEGATIVE OFFERED KITTEN FOOD – NO INTEREST GAVE NUTRICAL ON GUMS GAVE 25 ML LRS SQ STARTED COURSE OF DOXY – 0.17 ML PO SID X 10 DAYS RECOMMEND TO RE-ADMIT TO SHELTER FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT/OBSERVATION – AT LEAST UNTIL KITTEN IS ABLE TO EAT ON OWN WILL NEED BID FORCE FEEDINGS, NUTRICAL ADMINISTRATION 20 ML LRS BID NEBULIZATION BID X 5 DAYS DAILY RECHECKS IF TIME PERMITS, WILL ATTEMPT RADIOGRAPHS ALTHOUGH PATIENT STRESSES VERY EASILY AND BEGINS OPEN MOUTH BREATHING. HESITANT TO SEDATE AT THIS TIME.
