**SAFE 12/17/15** LANDLORD PROBLEMS LANDED POOR OTTA IN THE SHELTER – NOW THIS PLAYFUL BOY CAUGHT A COLD AND WILL DIE FOR IT! OTTA’s owner only had him for about 6 months. Sadly the landlord said OTTA had to go so rather than finding a new home, his owner disposed of his cat at the ACC. OTTA is only 2 years old and very handsome. He was said to be friendly and playful and likes balls and cat dancer toys. On his assessment he was given an AVERAGE RATING because he allowed all handling and petting. OTTA NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW TO HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY. PLEASE ADOPT THIS GREAT CAT OR EVEN FOSTER AND SAVE HIS LIFE TONIGHT!

12/03/15 16:24 Basic Information Otta was brought in as owner surrender due to owner having landlord issues. Owner has had Otta for the past six months after receiving him from a friend. Owner says as far as he knows Otta does not have any injuries or health concerns. Socialization & Behavior Otta is usually shy around strangers for a few minutes but soon warms up. Otta did not live with any children or other animals. According to owner there have been no past issues of Otta biting anyone or another animal. Otta is said to normally be relaxed during car rides, Owner says Otta is afraid and will attempt to run during baths. Otta is unbothered with nail trims, and usually enjoys being brushed. Otta does not mind being held, and owner says it is easy to place him into a carrier. For a New Family to Know Otta is described as affectionate with a medium activity level. Owner says his favorite thing about Otta is how lovely he is. Owner says Otta enjoys playing with toys, and usually sits in his owner lap when he’s home. Otta enjoys balls and cat dancer toys and is normally kept indoors only. Otta is said to be litter-box trained, and uses the clumping litter with a hooded litter-box. Otta was fed both wet and dry food, and has a scratching post made of carpet that he uses. Behavior during Intake Otta was afraid during intake. He had a flattened body with dilated pupils. Despite being afraid, Otta allowed all handling to be conducted and showed no signs of aggression during intake.

Otta’s previous owner states that he is usually shy around strangers for a few minutes, but soon warms up. He did not live with any children or other animals, but he is unbothered with nail trims and enjoys being brushed. He does not mind being held and is easy to place into a carrier. Otta has a medium activity level and is described as affectionate. He usually sits on the owner’s lap at home. Reaction to assessor: Otta does not come to the front but is calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Otta looks at the assessor and blinks slowly. Reaction to cage door opening: Otta remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Otta was a bit hesitant at first, but he sniffs the assessor’s hand and lightly head-butts. He seems a bit cautious of his surroundings, but he leans into petting and relaxes. Reaction to being picked up: Otta remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Average Otta interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. There is no known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
