MUSHY – A1055517
Gone 10-24-2015 Manhattan
***GONE 10/24/15*** Who can honestly call a cat a “personal problem”? To many great cats are DUMPED using that same, old excuse! MUSHY has been the ” personal problem” that has caused her to now be at the ACC, facing DEATH! She’s already SPAYED and she’s 9 years old. So let’s see how her previous owner had such a problem! NO nails clipped,no bath, not brushed!! EVER! Where is the problem? This cat was thrown a can of cat food(half, technically!) And the ownercalled it a day! Now because this sweet girl doesn’t like people and is scared, she’s been RATED RESCUE ONLY! PLEASE, contact a NEW HOPE RESCUE and at least FOSTER this girl! Give her a chance to know what REAL care is and she will return to her sweet self!

10/21/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/21/15 10:58 Basic Info: Mushy is a 9 year old spayed cat who has no known injuries or medical problems. She was gotten as a gift and surrendered due to personal issues with the owner. Social Life and Personality: Mushy has not been around any dogs, cats, or children so her behaviors are unknown. She is litter box trained, kept indoors only, and has a low to medium level of energy. Behavior: She has had a history of scratching people (last scratch was a little over 2 weeks) when they either get too close or when they try to pick her up but she has never bitten anyone before. She has not had her nails clipped, her fur brushed, or given a bath so her behaviors are unknown. She is afraid of being picked up and will hiss and swat if someone attempts to do so. She will try to run away when someone approaches, having stiff body, arched back, and dilated pupils and has similar reaction when placed into a carrier. New Family Info: She is used to clumping litter inside an uncovered box. She did not play with toys and would scratch on rugs and walls. At home she would rarely seek attention aside from the owner and stayed in a favorite spot. She was fed both wet and dry food (dry was left out all the time on a free feeding schedule and every other night she would be given half a can of wet food). Intake Behavior: During intake she would retreat from extended hand and go to the back of the carrier. She would have stiff body, have dilated pupils, and would growl when hand approached but did not swat or bite. When scanned she was negative for a microchip and when given food she showed no interest in it. When touched would have stiff body and low growl and when placed into new carrier she retreated to back.

10/23/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Mushy looks tense in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Mushy remains hiding in her cat den, body held tightly, alert with pupils dilated. Reaction to touch: Mushy does not allow the stroke, spits and charges at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: NH ONLY Mushy is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
