09/05/15 15:55 Basic Information: Mena is a 1 and half year old unaltered female domestic shorthair. Mena was given to owner as a gift from a neighbor. Owner surrenders Mena due to living situations. Social Life and Personality: Mena lived with adults and been around children ages 10 and 15 years old. Owner stated Mena is relaxed, respectful and tolerant towards everyone in the household. Mena lived with kitten which is her daughter Dean A1050481. Owner stated Mena is bonded with Dena and is playful and affectionate. Mena been around other cats but is not friendly and Mena never been around dogs. She is indoors only and activity level is low. Owner describes Mena as playful with Dean and independent. Behavior Issues: Mena never bitten or scratched anyone owner stated. She was never given a bath or nail trim. She enjoys being picked up and held only if it’s by the owner. For a New Family to Know: Mena is litter box trained and uses a uncovered litter box. She likes to play with strings or anything that rolls. Mena use to have a scratching post made out of carpet she loved to scratch on. She likes to follow owner around the house especially when hungry. Mena ate dry food called Meow mix. Intake Behavior: Upon intake Mena was growling, hissing, and swatting. No handling, photo, or collar was put on at this time.

Owner Profile: Mena was bought into the care center due to her previous owner having personal problems. Mena lived with adults and been around children. The previous owner stated Mena is relaxed, respectful and tolerant towards everyone in the household. Mena lived with kitten which is her daughter. Mena been around other cats and was reported to not be friendly towards them. Mena behavior towards dogs remains unknown. She is indoors only and activity level is low. Notes: At the time of the assessment Mena was displaying timid behavior, comes to the front of the kennel when spoken to softly, interacts with the Assessor with a slow approach, solicits attention, tolerates petting. Mena is displaying behavior appropriate for an experience cat owner with no children. Reaction to assessor: does not come to front but looks at you with wide eyes When spoken quietly: slowly comes to the front of cage, soliciting, rubbing against front Reaction to door cage opening: stays at he front of cage but appears apprehensive Reaction to touch: allows petting, likes chin rubs Try picking cat up: Mena allows brief handling with a very slow and gentle approach Placement Determination: Experience no child
