SEDATED WITH 0.15 ML TELAZOL TO BETTER VIEW WOUND
LARGE (APPROX. 4-5 CM IN DIAMETER) ROUND OPENED LACERATION ON THE MEDIAL ASPECT OF THE LHL, JUST PROXIMAL TO THE STIFLE. DEEP MUSCLE TISSUE EXPOSED WITH DRIED/NECROTIC EDGES. MILD AMOUNT OF HEMORRHAGIC DISCHARGE OOZED FROM TISSUES. WOUND APPEARS TO HAVE DEEP POCKETING CRANIALLY AND CAUDALLY.
MODERATE AMOUNT OF SOFT TISSUE SWELLING ABOVE STIFLE
PALPABLE L FEMORAL FRACTURE, LIKELY MID-DIAPHYSEAL
A: OPENED FRACTURE
P: FLUSHED WOUND COPIOUSLY WITH NOLVASAN FOLLOWED BY STERILE SALINE
PLACED SOFT BANDAGE OVER THE WOUND.
GAVE 0.6 ML BUPRENEX SQ ONCE – CONTINUE BID X 5 DAYS
GAVE 0.9 ML BAYTRIL IM ONCE – CONTINUE SID X 10 DAYS
WILL INFORM NEW HOPE OF NEED FOR PLACEMENT – WILL NEED FRACTURE REPAIR OR MORE LIKELY LIMB AMPUTATION
