***SAFE 11/20/15 *** SWEET AS SYRUP, MAPLE IS A YOUNG LADY WITH AN AWESOME AVERAGE RATING!! MAPLE was found as a stray and got along very well with the family’s children and other cats. The dog however tried to snap and bite….so rather than working something out, they brought this sweetheart to the ACC. Now, she has caught their shelter cold and is listed…..PLEASE HELP MAPLE GET THE CHANCE SHE DESERVES…….APPLY TO FOSTER OR ADOPT TONIGHT AND HELP MAPLE FIND THAT “FURREVER” HOME!!

I am a female tortie and white domestic lh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 6 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 11/04/2015 from NY 10027, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

11/04/15 15:54 Basic Info: Maple is a 1 1/2 year old female who has no known injuries or medical problems. She was found as a stray and surrendered due to a pet conflict in the home, Social Life and Personality: According to the finder she was around children ages 3 and 5 and was relaxed and affectionate but did not play. She was living with other cats and was relaxed and playful and when she played it was exuberant. There was a dog in the home where she was living but she did not interact with him because the dog would try to snap and bite. She is litter box trained, kept indoors only, and has a medium level of energy. Behavior: She has not bitten or scratched anyone before. She was given a bath and was afraid/would struggle but did not hiss, swat, or bite, only tried to run away. She did not have her nails clipped or hair brushed so her behaviors are unknown. She will run away and hide if someone tries to pick her up but when she jumps onto someone she enjoys to be held. New Family Info: She is used to both clumping and crystal litter inside an uncovered box. She will play with balls and used a vertical scratching post made out of rope and carpet. She followed finder around the home and was fed dry food. Intake Behavior: During intake Maple would approach extended hand and sniff it. She allowed all handling without aggression and when scanned was negative for a microchip. When touched had soft, relaxed body and would purr when rubbed under chin. When inside new carrier she would sit at front and when given food showed no interest.

Reaction to assessor: Maple looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Maple remains sitting upright by the front of the cage, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Maple stands with tail up, head-butt the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: She becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage. Placement determination: Average Maple interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
