08/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kitten is described by her previous owner as “friendly, playful, and affectionate with a medium activity level.” She interacts playfully and gently with children. Kitten did not have a scratching post in her previous home, so she used furniture as an alternate. Kitten was nervous during her initial medical exam, but she did allow handling. She was given a cat den to help her acclimate to the shelter environment, and she does appear to appreciate the hiding spot. Reaction to assessor: Kitten is in her cat den when approached. She can be coaxed out and is interested in her surroundings. Reaction to cage door opening: Remains still, does not retreat. Reaction to touch: Kitten approaches to sniff the assessor’s outstretched hand. She allows brief petting and then moves away to sniff around her kennel, slightly tense. She runs back into her cat den when the door is opened. Placement determination: Experience Kitten tolerates some attention and petting but appears to be a little fearful in the shelter, and she may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
