HARRIS – A1046382
8-21-2015 Manhattan
***GONE 08/21/15*** PERFECTLY HEALTHY HARRIS ONLY WANTS TO PLAY – BUT HIS EXUBERANCE GOT HIM AN EXPNOCHILD RATING AND A TRIP TO TONIGHT’S EUTH LIST!!! HARRIS is only 3 years old and found his way into the shelter as a stray. He is already neutered and this tells us that he was most likely someone’s pet at one time. HARRIS was calm, relaxed, and friendly when the assessor arrived. He reached out with his paws for attention and was soft and relaxed. But when they opened the cage, and started petting him he wanted to play a little rough and grabbed the assessor’s hand with his claws – no big deal for those of us who know cat behavior – and for THAT – he got a EXPNOCHILD rating and a spot on tonight’s list. How unfair! HARRIS is only displaying kitten like behavior and was not aggressive in a mean way. He wants to play like any other cat and since he may have been lost for a while, he is craving that play and attention. GIVE HARRIS A PLACE TO CALL HOME TONIGHT – CONTACT A RESCUE TO PULL HIM TO SAFETY AND YOU WILL HAVE A NEW BEST FRIEND!!

08/16/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Harris was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. He reaches out with his paws when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Harris remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Harris allows petting, but starts to play roughly. He grabs the assessor using nails and nips. Reaction to being picked up: Harris prefers to be on all four paws. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Harris solicits attention and tolerates petting but may be assertively demanding of attention or may play roughly. Due to how roughly he plays and the use of his claws during the interaction, we feel that this cat will do best in a home without children.
