***SAFE 12/10/15*** FIGURO COULD BE AN OPERA DIVO!! FIGURO likes a nice, quiet atmosphere while he is contemplating his next aria…Apparently he didn’t get that for two years when a neighbor “gifted” him to his former owner…FIGURO got pestered by three kids and took on an aloof aspect and his owner didn’t bother to work with him or neuter him or bring him for vet visits…SO, no big surprise that this quiet guy is not doing well at the ACC and that he has a NEW HOPE rating…..SOME CATS ARE INDEPENDENT LIKE SOME PEOPLE…As a culture, we don’t kill people because they like a solo life, it shouldn’t happen to animals either. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A QUIET COMPANION WHO IS A SELF-STARTER WHEN YOU ARE AWAY FROM THE HOUSE…..CONSIDER FIGURO!! MAKE SURE HE GETS A SECOND ACT TOMORROW BY APPLYING TO FOSTER OR ADOPT HIM TONITE!!

12/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Figuro was bought into the care center by his previous owner due to behavior problems. Figuro has lived with two adults and three children. Around children he is described as fearful and standoffish. The previous owner stated when her children would attempt to play with him or get near him he would either hide or hiss when they are near. He has not been around other cats or dogs. His activity level is described as medium and he has been kept only indoors. Reaction to assessor: Figuro does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Figuro does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Figuro becomes stiff, alert Reaction to touch: Figuro hisses but allows limited petting with a very slow approach Try picking cat up: did not attempt to pick up Figuro due to fearful behavior Behavior Determination: NewHope Figuro seems to not be thriving in this environment. At the time of the assessment Figuro was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful and currently tolerates very limited petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
