ELLIS – A1039397

***SAFE- 06/26/15*** A volunteer writes: Little Ellis is quite remarkable and not just for her pretty face and super affectionate personality — as far as I know, she’s the only cat who’s ever tried to break INTO our Manhattan Care Center! Found soliciting attention (and food) in the parking lot, staff believe she’d been living in the adjacent storage garage and apparently just biding her time before deciding to step forward and ask for help. Even with a lively Jack Russell Terrier standing right beside the humans, Ellis was fearless in her approach and she meowed for attention and lapped up some petting before allowing herself to be scooped up and carried inside. While it’s nice to have as much food as she wants and a soft bed to nap on, what this featherweight cutie really loves is socializing and she’s thrilled over any chance to share some of the Ellis magic with visitors. Free in our ‘interaction booth’ she’s eager to explore, jumping onto the climbing frame, peering through the glass at a playful kitten neighbor and nuzzling her head into my caressing hand as she chills out on the bed. Lap snuggles, pick-up hugs and pretty much any kind of handling (except going back into that darn travel crate!) is A-OK with Ellis, all she wants is to love and be loved in return. She’s never one to scratch or bite, and would make a gentle addition to almost any family. Like the huddled masses who traveled through her namesake Island in search of a better life, our brave wee Ellis looks out at the world with yearning eyes and a hopeful heart…can you offer her the home she’s journeyed so far to find?
