12/02/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
12/02/15 18:22 Cosmo A1059439 is being surrendered because his owner passed away on 11/27/2015 The finder has been caring for him for a week. She says that she is unable to keep him because her husband is allergic. She was feeding him purina cat chow. She described him as friendly and allowed to be carried, pet and tolerated all handling. Behavior during intake Cosmo was friendly upon intake. I scanned(-) him and pet him as I collared him. He purred as I positioned him for photographs. He looked around with wide eyes and wanted to jump down. I carried and held him as I transferred him into a kennel.

12/04/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cosmo came into the care center as a stray and we have only minimal information on his behavior in his previous home, though people familiar with him describe him as friendly and affectionate. He was social at the time of intake and a bit tense but tolerant of handling during his initial medical examination. Cosmo appears a bit fearful in the care center environment and has not seemed interested in interacting with his caretakers, including during his behavior evaluation. However, he remains tolerant of petting and handling. Reaction to assessor: Cosmo is at the back of his cage. He looks at the assessor but cannot be coaxed forward. Reaction to cage door opening: Cosmo retreats when the cage door opens (please note that this cage door makes a louder-than-normal noise, and he seems to be responding partially to that loud noise). Reaction to touch: Cosmo allows touch on the head and body but remains at the back of the cage and ducks away from the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: Experience Cosmo tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents
