This is a cat that LOVES kids and adults and would play with the two lady cats next door….He doesn’t know why he was abandoned and he is terrified here with strangers…..PLEASE CONTACT A NEW HOPE RESCUE TONIGHT AND GET THIS FRIENDLY GUY OUT OF HERE….LET’S FIND HIM A FUREVER HOME NOW!!

I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 11/06/2015 from NY 10458, owner surrender reason stated was ALLERGIES.

11/06/15 13:54 Chow chow A1057111 is being surrendered because the owner was told by the doctor that she should surrender becasue her allergies are getting worse. Chow chow has been to the vet but she does not remember when the last vet visit was.He has no known health issues. Socialization Chow chow is very friendly and outgoing with strangers. He loves children and follows them around. He loves to play with adults and is very gentle. He has not been around other dogs. He likes female cats. The owner says that her next door neighbor has two female cats and he likes to go next door and play with them. He has not been around anyone or any other animal. Behavior Chow chow is litterbox trained. He likes to sleep on the couch. The owner would bathe him in his earlier years but as he got older he began to dislike water. He loves meow mix. He used an open litter box with fresh step litter. Behavior during intake Chow Chow was very vocal upon intake. He had wide eyes and was nervous. He was brought in an uncovered dog crate and he meowed loudly once inside Bxacc. He allowed to be taken out and tolerated all handling. He was scanned(-), and collared and photographed.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chow Chow’s previous owner states that he is very friendly and outgoing with strangers. He loves children and follows them around. When he plays, he is very gentle. He likes female cats and likes to go outside to play with the two female cats outdoors. He is litter box trained and likes to sleep on the couch. Reaction to assessor: Chow Chow was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Chow Chow blinks slowly at the assessor while the end of his tail flicks. Reaction to cage door opening: Chow Chow becomes stiff and alert, and starts to growl. Reaction to touch: Chow Chow focuses on the assessor’s hand and shifts away from it. He starts to yowl and continues to growl. He swats the assessor’s hand and does not allow touch. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Chow Chow is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
