09/03/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Update: Cassidy has been noted to use his nails during play when interacting with the staff. He also pats the assessor’s hand with nails when he wants to stop the assessor from touching him. Because of his tendency to use his nails during an interaction, we recommend he goes to a home with experienced cat parents and without children. We also recommend having frequent nail trims to prevent him from scratching and breaking skin during play and using fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. Placement determination: Experience No Child Cassidy tolerates attention and petting but may play roughly. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children. ____________________________________________________________________________ Date: 08/05/15 Reaction to assessor: Cassidy looks neutral in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Cassidy remains sitting upright on his cage bedding, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Cassidy accepts the stroke and head-butts the assessor’s hand however, he began to slowly lean away with ears down to the side, direct stare, and becomes unsure with the touch. Placement determination: Experience Cassidy tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
