09/22/15 12:11 Basic Info: August A1052317 is a 1yr old gray female DSH feline who was found as a newborn stray and is being surrendered due to the owner no longer able to afford to care for her anymore. August hasn’t been to a veterinarian and has no known health issues/injuries. Socialization: Around strangers August is friendly/ougoing. She’s spent time with children ages 4 & 7yrs old. August is gentle, relaxed/affectionate & exuberant with them along with adults, a male Yorkie that would visit and a 5yr old female feline that “raised” August this past year. The 5yr old cat would groom August as if she were her mother. August has never bitten/scratched a person or animal. Behavior: August doesn’t use the carpet scratching post, she scratches on furniture. During car rides August meows. She hasn’t been given a bath, been brushed, had her nails trimmed or been disturbed while sleeping/resting. She doesn’t mind being picked up/held or placed into a carrier. For a New Family to Know: August is described as friendly, affectionate, playful & mellow at times with a low-high activity level. The owner likes how well August gets along with the children. August enjoys playing or spending time with the 5yr old cat. August enjoys ball & mouse toys. August is an indoor only cat who sleeps on an office chair (that she also enjoys scratching). She eats wet & dry meow mix cat food 2-3x a day. She has a hooded litter box with clumping litter within. Intake Behavior: August allowed all handling. She allowed to be scanned (-), collared and taken pictures of including positioning. She didn’t resist or vocalize when picked up or placed into a carrier for transport.

August lived previously with children, adults, and another cat, and was also exposed to a Yorkie. She is described as “friendly, affectionate, playful & mellow at times.” The owner notes that she did not use her carpet scratching post, and may scratch on furniture. August has been social and easy to handle since arriving at the care center. She solicited attention throughout her evaluation. Reaction to assessor: August is at the front of the cage, and meows for attention. Reaction to cage door opening: Remains at the front, body soft. Reaction to touch: August allows all petting and a gentle pick up in the cage. She remains interested in interacting and continues soliciting attention throughout the eval. Placement determination: Beginner August interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. She has no known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.
